Divine Mercy Celebration

St. Joseph Church observed Divine Mercy Sunday at 3:00 p.m. on April 27th. The Feast of Divine Mercy is celebrated on the Octave of Easter (the Sunday after Easter Sunday) and celebrates the Divine Mercy of Jesus Christ as revealed by Christ himself to Saint Maria Faustina Kowalska. She’s known as the Apostle of Divine Mercy and was a Polish nun who received frequent revelations from Christ during the 1930s. She was canonized by Pope John Paul II in 2000. During the Divine Mercy service prayers of Thanksgiving were also offered for the canonization of Popes John Paul II and John XXIII which took place the same day.
