Originating in 1993, Called and Gifted workshops from the Catherine of Siena Institute are designed to help participants discover their own charisms. A charism is gift from God to help share his mission. It is different from a natural talent that could be used selfishly. A charism is directly tied to God’s mission for you and bears fruit only because of the Holy Spirit working through you. To discover your charism is to discover what will energize your service in the Church and in the world and bear fruit according to God’s designs.
Examples:
  • Are you good at planning and organizing?  You may have the charism of Administration
  • Are others inspired by your art or creative work?  You may have the charism of Craftsmanship
  • Are others comforted by your presence or words?  You may have the charism of Encouragement
  • Are you able to channel God’s love to cure illness and restore health?  You may have the charism of Healing
  • Do you enjoy welcoming others into your home?  You may have the charism of Hospitality
  • Do you have remarkable insight for problem solving & decision making?  You may have the charism of Wisdom
The Called & Gifted workshop explores 24 charisms.
The workshop includes an overview of what charisms are, taking a 120 question inventory to discover your charisms, then learning about what each charism looks like when put to use.  Fr. Tony, myself and 4 other parishioners recently attended a Called & Gifted in Little Rock and we have been excited to bring it to St. Joseph Church.
This is great information to have for your spiritual and personal lives, for your work and family relationships.  Please consider joining us!
