A medical mission to Honduras in early June involved parishioners from Christ the King Catholic Church in Little Rock and St. Joseph’s in Conway. The mission team transformed local school rooms and community centers into clinics providing the only medical care that many of these Hondurans would receive all year.
A temporary pharmacy was set-up, along with an eye examination station where donated reading glasses were dispensed. Oral health screenings were also done in a makeshift dental clinic. Other team members assisted with construction and repairs of a convent school and an area hospital. Father John Marconi, the pastor at St. Joseph’s, provided spiritual blessings throughout the week to the Hondurans and to resident missionaries already assigned there. More than 6,000 people benefited from the mission.
