Confirmation

Welcome! We are excited you are interested in becoming a candidate for the Sacrament of Confirmation!

As prescribed by the Diocese, anyone wishing to begin preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation must complete 1 full year of Catechesis/religious education (whether through Catholic School or the Parish) prior to beginning actual sacrament preparation.  We therefore use the following designations:

Confirmation Year 1 (normally 8th grade) = The full year of Catechesis required to begin actual Confirmation Preparation

Confirmation Year 2 (normally 9th grade) = The year of actual Confirmation Preparation; with Confirmation taking place in the spring (normally) of Confirmation Year 2

To begin preparation the Candidate must:

1. Have received the Sacraments of Baptism, First Communion & Reconciliation.

*Candidates who were not baptized at St. Joseph's Church will need to provide a Baptismal Certificate.

2. Be 14 years old at the time of Confirmation, which will take place during Confirmation Year 2.

3. Personally desire to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation and be willing to participate in the preparation process.
